Driving Tips

Driving: I10 and Hwy 71 speed limits often from a low 50 MPH to a high of 70 MPH. When crossing the bridges over I10 and Business 71 watch your speed as the Texas Highway Patrol is trying to crack down on speeders with radar. You will often find cars going at 75 MPH over and under the bridges...let them go! Seat Belts are the law in Texas and must be worn at all times.

You are allowed to make a right turn on red at most stop lights as long as you come to a complete stop before making your turn.

Watch school zones, don´t assume that the school zone ends where the cones end. Speed limit in school zone is usually 15 mph. Look for the "End School Zone" sign. This is a ticket that could cost you over $300, so watch out. International visitors may not be used to the typical U.S. yellow school buses and should take care not to pass a school bus if the bus has the red flashing lights on.

Also, Should you come across a construction zone on the road, even in the winter time, SLOW DOWN. It is Another very expensive ticket (double the normal fine) if you are caught speeding in a construction zone.
